Bentley College–11.16.07
Out of all the colleges I’ve played at, I’ve played Bentley the second most behind Northeastern, my alma mater. Also, out of all the colleges that I’ve played at, I’ve profited the most from performing at Bentley (though I won’t name specific figures). However, Bentley has always been a tough place to play at. One time I performed solo and the place was shoulder-to-shoulder on a Saturday night. It was PACKED. That was a cool show, however, the total there has not been matched by the attendance at all my other shows at Bentley combined .
Anyhow, the show this night was no different. I played full band but I think throughout the night we had no more than 10 people in to listen. If I was solo, it would have been a real drag but I was glad to have the band mates in with me on this one. We got to brush up on some tracks we haven’t played in a while and work on the new track “You Don’t Love Me At All,” which sounded great. I was extremely happy with the way we played and am grateful with how far we’ve come along this year.
I got to bring out my electric guitar and play that for about half the set too, which was nice. I played electric back in June when we had a gig at The Paradise Lounge and was not in the right mindset to play. I had the illusion that we were like a rock ‘n’ roll band and bashed away and though it wasn’t a strong show for any of us, it was particularly weak for me, and a low point on an otherwise great year. This time around, however, we were all on the same page playing and I think that the small crowd we had in attendance appreciated it. The staff at the pub were particularly warm and welcoming to us.
I joked at one point late in the evening when a group of four people walked in that they just tripled our audience…but that’s the way the night went.
It didn’t help that I was feeling ill too. I had a cold coming on all day and by the end of the night I was ready to kick it in. We played strong for like 90% of our set, but crawled to the finish line. Not bad all considering because we played for two hours.
I had my drummer Anthony’s girlfriend take pictures but I haven’t received them from her. Included in the pictures was a picture of the empty room and Andy doing a headstand on one of the couches there. Hopefully I can get the pictures up soon!
