Every year I do like a year re-cap where I give out awards for my favorite things of the year. This is the first time that I have ever decided to post it. Usually I just discuss and debate with my girlfriend and friends…but here is is:

The 4th (or so) Annual B-MONEY AWARDS!

Album of the year: “The Historical Conquests of Josh RItter” by Josh Ritter
Honorable Mentions: “Some Mad Hope” by Matt Nathanson, “In Rainbows” by Radiohead, “The Reminder” by Feist, “Sky Blue Sky” by Wilco

Song of the year: “The Temptation of Adam” by Josh Ritter
Honorable Mentions: “The Underdog” by Spoon, “1 2 3 4″ by Feist, “Turn On Me” by The Shins, “15 Steps” by Radiohead

Male Singer-Songwriter of the Year: Josh Ritter
Honorable Mentions: Ryan Adams, Will Dailey, Matt Nathanson, Stephen Kellogg

Female Singer-Songwriter of the Year: Feist
Honorable Mentions: I’m not really into a lot of female singer-songwriters but I’d say Regina Spektor and I met this cool singer-songwriter named Nicole Berke at an open mic this year and was impressed by her.

Local Songwriter of the Year: Will Dailey
Honorable Mentions: Stephen Kellogg (if he counts…), Cahill, Tim Blane, Chris Michaud

Local Album of the Year: “At The Seams” by Cahill
…I know it’s lame for me to say that because they are my roommates but it really is a great achievement. Also, there was nothing released locally that really struck me, except if you count the re-release of Will Dailey’s “Backflipping Forward” which I’m going to disqualify.

Movie of the Year: “The Darjeeling Limited”
Honorable Mentions: “I’m Not There”, “3:10 to Yuma”, “The Bourne Ultimatum”, “No Country For Old Men”

Book of the Year (that I read..not necessarily released this year): “The Cider House Rules” by John Irving (which is cheating because it’s my favorite book and I have read it several times….but we’re just going to have to deal with it)
Honorable Mentions: “Geek Love” by Katherine Dunn, “Moneyball” Michael M. Lewis, “Harry Potter 7″ by J.K. Rowling, “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” by Jonathan Safron Foer

Best Show of The Year (that I played in): 3.24 at The Paradise (opening for Will Dailey)
Honorable Mentions: 10.18 at The Paradise (opening for Stephen Kellogg), Hookslide Kelly’s residency, 2.8 at The Paradise (Beanpot Battle of the Bands), Faneuil Hall

WORST show that I attended: Ryan Adams in Portland, Maine

Best show that I attended: Josh Ritter 10.6 at the Somerville Theater

Best thing about this year: Graduating then being able to work full time making music from July-December

I’ve been slow about blogging lately but that’s probably because I am in relax mode because of the holidays. It has been truly relaxing and I know things are going to ramp up in one week because of the new interns and because 2008 is going to be better than 2007!!!

This has been the wildest year of my life and I look forward to everything to come.

Here’s to the New Year.
