First Tracks Round 2 is Over
So, yesterday was an interesting day. The First Tracks Competition round 2 ended. I don’t know if we finished in the Top 25 but I’m optimistic. Thanks to everyone who voted!
It was such a relief that The Paradise Lounge gig went well. I’m definitely bummed out that the Lounge is closing but it helps soften the blow that we played such a great gig. With the passing of the Lounge show, we have a few shows coming up. I’m playing with the band (minus Andy) tonight at NEU. We’re performing background music at an awards show in the alumni center. I’m lucky that when they need live music for something alumni related, they think of me.
I’m playing at UCONN this Saturday and then we have a gig at Wellesley College in a couple weeks. If we somehow are lucky enough to make it to the finals of First Tracks, that’ll be in three weeks. Our schedule has been pretty light this semester and it’s been very nice. The TA job that I have has made it nice for me because I don’t have to stress as much about money and worry about getting enough work. Faneuil Hall season could start as early as Sunday (if the weather’s nice enough!) and I CAN’T WAIT to get out there.
I’m hoping to be able to get the opportunity to get the band to play. I definitely think we can get some good work playing there this summer. I’ll keep everyone posted with that.
A couple other things going on right now—we’re competing on OurStage for chances to play at the Newport Folk Festival, Bonaroo (long shot) and WBOS Earthfest. Each chance would be great for the band but I’m not getting ahead of myself. We’re definitely going to take one step at a time.
The weather’s getting nicer and my overall mood and excitement level are as well. I’m feeling a little ill today but I’m overall in a good headspace right now.
I should know tomorrow about the Top 25 for First Tracks so you’ll hear if we are there!
