Good Shows are Good

On Wednesday night, we played at Wellesley College’s Punch’s Alley (or the Red room as we affectionately call it). It was a lot of fun as it usually is there. We get free beer and it’s a low stress scenario so we were just there to have a good time. We actually had a bigger crowd then we’ve had in the past there and that helps. I’m really excited with the band now. We work well together and are getting comfortable playing together. We have a couple new tunes and they are kicking it pretty well. The people were all super nice and we sold a couple CDs and gave out several more.

I’m more or less in full swing for the street performing season. It’s so weird because I can’t predict how any given day is going to turn out. I played on Thursday night and had to stop because it was chilly and there weren’t many people there but I had a blistering two hours where I sold nearly 20 CDs and made a good amount in tips for 2 hours. Today it was packed and beautiful outside but I couldn’t seem to pick up any momentum. I played for three-and-a-half hours, which means I’m almost performing up to full strength but I made only as much as I made on Thursday night during a shortened performance. No matter though because I’m out there and that’s the important thing right now.

I’m hoping to get the green light soon to perform with the band. That’s going to be key to having a great summer there. It creates a better mood and I’ll be more of a ‘performer’ with the band and I’m sure we’ll sell a ton more CDs. If all goes well, I might end up paying Max and Brian (Packer) this summer and they’d play full time for me, which would be great for the unity and growth of the band.

It looks like the full-length CD is going to be fast tracked as well. I had breakfast with Will Dailey yesterday and we tracked out potentially working together and I think it’s too good of an opportunity to pass up. So I’m working on getting together the track list and seeing what kind of money I’ll be able to put together for this. There’s definitely a lot of consideration but we might be tracking as early as July or August, which is ahead of when I thought it would be. It’s all still early though.

The last piece of news is I’m officially work with an agent now. Gary Burns has done booking/management for the likes of Pete Kilpatrick and Zox and now I’m his pet project. He’s younger than me but has a ton of experience and is a total pro so I’m looking forward to this alliance!

My History of Rock Music class that I help teach at Northeastern just wrapped up yesterday. There will be assorted things to do next week but it’s pretty much done. I have some correcting to do so I’m going to go do that while flicking between the Red Sox and the Bruins (the Bruins? Yes, the Bruins).
