I’ve been stagnant in the blogosphere but I’ve had the busiest week in a while with the music side of things.
First, “The Glory EP” has received its first review. I won’t reprint the whole thing on here but if you care to read it, please check out the link HERE. It’s a pretty positive review and I believe we have more reviews coming down the pipeline.
Second, we are waiting on information to open for Fountains of Wayne but it’s going to happen and we’re very excited. It’ll be our first band show in about a month so that should be fun to get back out there playing again.
Faneuil Hall has started to pick up…a bit. It was weird because last Sunday I made a ton of tips but only sold a couple of CDs. The last two days that I’ve played, I haven’t made much for tips but I’ve sold a ton of CDs. It’s hard to predict what’s going to happen. I don’t think this season will go as well as I had projected, due to a combination of high gas prices, the recession, and the non-Faneuil Hall Street Performers who have been setting up near-by but hopefully I can at least get close. I have all ready applied for a couple of part-time jobs to make sure that I don’t get too far off of the mark.
i need to get close to my projections because it looks like we’re going to record the full-length in either late-August or September. I’ve been talking to Will (Dailey, the producer for the album) and we’ve been tightening up the budget and it looks like it’s going to clock in at around $10,000 !(!!)
I’ve conceded the fact that I will not be able to save up that kind of money before we start recording but I’d like to get as close as possible so I don’t have to shoulder much debt.
In other news, “The Glory EP” has started getting spins on 3 Canadian College Radio Stations:
CFBX 95.5fm - kamloops BC request line: 250-377-3988
CKDU- FM 88.1 - kamloops british columbia request line: 902-494-2487
CJSR - University of Alberta, Edmonton - 780.492.CJSR ext 1.
We’re looking for people to call and request “Cavity” or “On My Mind” and so far we’ve gotten a good response but if anyone else is interested in helping us out, feel free to call the request lines and tell ‘em who sent you!
I’m excited with the material I’ve been working on for the new CD. I’ve all ready sent Will 20 possible tracks but I think another 10 or so is going to come down the pipeline. The idea is to have as much material as possible and pare it down to the best tracks (duh) but the important thing for me is to have the cohesion of an album. It has to have a flow and a movement and it’ll be interesting to see that develop over time.
That’s all. Back to the songwriting.
