Monster Ballads

This past Friday I went to go see my favorite songwriter, Josh Ritter, play with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and though it wasn’t the best time that I’ve seen him, it was certainly very enjoyable.

Faithful blog readers (all 5 of you…) will remember that I launched my original blog back in October upon seeing Josh Ritter at The Somerville Theater. I am always impressed by not only his songs but how humble he is to an audience and how he unabashedly enjoys his place in life. That is something that I strive for daily with my music and I constantly need reminders as to how lucky I am and how much I enjoy what it is I do.

Though he doesn’t have as much notoriety as some of the songwriters that I enjoy, he is at a level that I strive for and one I think I could potentially reach one day. Until then he continues to be an inspiration.

I have included below a version of his song “Monster Ballads” with the Pops. Thanks to the author of this video, Lisa, for posting the video. Like I said, it wasn’t my favorite time seeing Josh Ritter…at many times the orchestra was too much for me to take seriously, he sounded like he was in a Disney movie or something, but I hope the power of his music can shine through. Check him out but make sure you see him live or you may not get him. Josh Ritter.
