This past weekend, we made a music video to drum up excitement for our new album (and to hopefully bolster the album sponsorship program in addition to entering the ill-fated Open for Coldplay Contest. Brian Packer, guitarist and engineer extraordinaire joined Max, Steve, and myself in the basement of Steve’s friend Eric, to track a demo and shoot the video. I, frankly, was not that excited about the video shoot. I felt like it was something that I had to do. It was a rush job. We recorded the audio in 4 hours and Bob (of Cahill) and I edited the video in 3 hours the next day but I was stunned at how it came out.

It was not an ideal recording situation. We were right next to one another, there was no isolation, and we weren’t able to mic my guitar. We just laid down 5 or 6 takes and kept the best one. Brian quickly threw together a mix and we were done. “Missing” will be one of the tracks on the new album and we’re glad it is. It has helped enthuse all the members of the band for the album (myself included) and we’re looking forward to an even better performance for the real take.

We had a lot of video footage in four hours. We had a great time doing it and Bob and I had a blast editing the video. What you see above is what the result was.
