I met with Gary (agent Gary) today in Salem, NH and it was about 45-minutes of shrugging. Gary’s been doing great work since I started working with him in April but it doesn’t seem like we’re making any traction. We can only blame so much of it on the economy before we’re like, “What the heck?” but he’s still plugging away. It’s difficult to tour with gas prices the way they are and everyone’s feeling it. Venues aren’t willing to pay guarantees and people are less likely to come out to shows to find a new band.
It’s just the way it is right now and we have to deal with it. The one good thing is we finally got booked at The Barking Crab, which has been a long time coming. It’ll be August 8th and we’ll be playing for something like 4 hours and we’ll be playing a ton of covers and having a great time. More on that to come.
I’m looking forward to driving to NYC on Wednesday for a private Northeastern alumni gig and I’m glad that I’ve become their go to guy. I don’t know if I’ll drive in early and spend the day in New York, stay overnight and spend part of Thursday in the city, or just come in for the gig then drive home. I’m leaning towards option C because New York City has lost its mysticism for me. There’s no where I particularly want to visit anymore.
Anyways, back to the Sox, who continue to stay in contention but leave me without confidence. It’s late July now so the race is going to tighten up. It’s a three horse race this year with Tampa Bay and the Yankees so someone’s going to get left out (and with the Twins charing the wild card…two teams may be left out). Yikes.
