…On The Road Again…

Thanks to Jeff and Malissa for tipping me off to the following topical article.

I’m going to NYC tomorrow and I’m going to be driving my Honda Accord. I’m playing a paid private gig and I’ve calculated the costs and it will be costing me about $150 round trip (that includes mileage in my lease, gas, and insurance), which is a real drag. I’m a lot more reluctant to book tours for this coming fall because of the rising gas prices and I know for sure that I’m not the only one feeling it.

It’s a bummer because not only do you have to pay more to get on tour, people have less of a disposable income to go out and see shows so concert attendance is dwindling. Our president (and I hate getting political) is full of crap if he really believes the economy is fine and well. The music industry is one of many (EVERY) industry that is getting squeezed by rising gas prices and an increase in everything else. I just hope that others can find the way to make ends meet because it’s tough times for all.

In a slightly related topic, I was balancing my bank accounts and paying credit card bills last night when I found that someone (not me) had charged over $2000 to my business credit card putting my bill at over 2400 (on a $2000 credit limit) and with that I have officially become a victim of identity theft. The people at Visa were very nice in straightening things out (at 10:30pm EST no less) and I’m going to see if I can get in touch with Chris Hansen and see if he can find the delinquent who did this…or Batman, who is now, apparently, a criminal.
