Cheese! Ice Cream! The Cold!

Two of the things in my subject are awesome things about Vermont. The third one sucks. If it wasn’t for the winter I think I would consider moving to Vermont. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL there. The drive was nice. It took me four hours to get to the motel I was staying at, and the moment I arrived, I realized they had rolled out the red carpet for me:

I drove past three awesome things on my way to the hotel: the Ben and Jerry Factor, the Cabot Cheese factory store, and the Cold Hollow Cider Mill (jealous Jeff). Vermont is awesome.

I had some “Me” time, then I went to my gig at Johnson State College. They have a very pretty campus.  You can see the mountains off in the distance, it’s hilly, and it must be brutal to live there during the winter (which sucks, as we have all ready established).

I arrived on campus and realized I hadn’t asked where I was going to play. I walked into one of the quads and saw a tent and was grateful that I wasn’t playing there because it was the coldest day in a while and it was only going to get colder:

I wandered into the student center and went to the bathroom where I saw posted on the wall: “Tonight 8pm; Brian Bergeron; Quad Tent”

Apparently, they were remodeling their old coffeehouse space, sooooooooooooo. I had to play outside. Bummer.

It was cold. I bundled upon and wasn’t able to play one of my finger picking songs because my hands were too cold. Also, no one really came except for the student activities folks who were working the event (and who were very nice by the way). There wasn’t anyone other than them to play for…but hey, that’s the college show game some time. I worked, got paid, had a beautiful drive, ate some delicious cookies (and took some home), and took a picture of my adoring crowd (read: people who had to be there) on stage:

I wrapped up around 9:30 and decided that I could stay awake for the ride home and made the drive. All in all, not a ‘great’ show but all around a ‘great’ Vermont day.

My band is getting ready to play at Faneuil Hall tonight in only an hour. Should be fun.

Albums/artists I played in the car yesterday:

Jackson Browne: “The Next Voice You Hear”
Tristan Prettyman
Neil Young
Ryan Adams: Live at The Avalon
Jump (Little Children): “Vertigo”
Paul Simon

I won’t be able to post tomorrow. See you all on Sunday.

I’ve driven past that Wok N Roll! I love Vermont too. Sure wouldn’t want to play in a tent in the winter! (Have you been to the Cabot store? You wouldn’t believe how many kinds they have plus my favorite - cheddar cheese to shake on popcorn. OMG!)
