CD Release Musings
I called Will last week to ask him when I should schedule the CD release show. He said a good rule of thumb is to wait until you have the mixes in your hands before you schedule a CD release show so nothing crazy happens. Fair enough. I’ve still thought a lot about it.
If I had it my way, I’d have the CD release at The Paradise Lounge, but that doesn’t exist anymore (major bummer), so I’m considering other options.
Potential Venues:
- Club Passim (new 1st choice. I played there as an open mic feature a couple of years ago and at a capacity of about 125, I think we could sell it out. It would be a great, chill venue to have a CD release show and I think we could give it a very laid back atmosphere)
- Great Scott (I’ve never played there so it might be tough to get in there)
- The Lilypad (This place is tiny so it would be a very intimate shindig)
- The Middle East Upstairs
- TTs The Bear
- Any Lowell venue…
I want it to be a casual show and have it fun as possible so I want to pick a small venue and not stress about it a ton. We want to promote the heck out of it but not worry about getting people in the seats.
Potential Openers
- Cahill (most likely option. They’re my dawgs and we’ve played together a bunch)
- WIll Dailey (Expressed interest if he didn’t have anything crazy coming down the pipeline)
- Ryan Schmidt (working hard and has an album of his own coming out sometime)
- Tim Bergeron (my brother…’nuff said)
- One of the 1000 other singer-songwriters in the area
Just thinking out loud at this point. Nothing is firm! I am thinking about it a lot but let’s get those tracks done first. Back in the studio on the 19th!
I have decided that if the release show is on a day where i could somehow get down to the boston area, i’m going, regardless of what i have going on.
so you can almost count on me being there lol.
Passim sounds like a nice choice…i liked my visit there last year. Any of those openers sound awesome, as well. Next year is gonna be awesome.
